Real estate internships cover brokerage, development, property management, lending and investment. The field has one well-known license — the state salesperson license — plus professional designations for later in a career. For students, the most useful preparation is financial modeling for property deals, an understanding of how your state licenses agents, and one practical credential you can finish before recruiting.

- A state salesperson license is useful for brokerage roles. Requirements (pre-licensing hours, age, exam) vary by state, so check your state's real estate commission.

Individual courses often free to audit. Build a three-statement model and a DCF from scratch. The most practical paid option for banking interviews.
- Financial Markets — Yale · Coursera · Shiller. Free to audit: Free to audit; certificate ~$49–$79. Robert Shiller on risk, behavioural finance, and institutions. The best free markets course there is.
- Real estate salesperson license — ARELLO (state regulators). Reference: Pre-license course plus state exam, usually a few hundred dollars. Rules vary by state. Every state licenses agents separately. ARELLO links to each state’s regulator and its requirements.
- Aswath Damodaran’s valuation classes — NYU Stern. Free: Free — lectures, spreadsheets and data sets. The most-cited valuation teacher alive puts his entire course online. Use the data sets for any stock pitch.
- CCIM Institute courses — CCIM Institute. Paid: Courses in the hundreds of dollars; student pricing exists. Commercial real estate investment analysis. The full CCIM designation comes after experience; the courses do not need it.
- Finance and capital markets — Khan Academy. Free: Free. Interest, bonds, stocks and mortgages from zero. A gentle start before Yale or Wharton.
